SPECIALTY OUTREACH SERVICES
We offer a wide array of specialty services on our campus for the convenience of our patients and our endeavor to keep healthcare close to home. These services are available at various times throughout the month. IN-TOUCH HEALTH ROBOT
Dr. Robby, the In-Touch Health Robot, is a service that offers specialized care close to home and is the goal of Ortonville Area Health Services and Sanford Health. With the introduction of the InTouch Health system, the residents of Ortonville and the surrounding area are one step, or in this case screen, closer. Through the advanced technology of the InTouch Health RP-7 and RP-7i™, providers are able to communicate in real time with patients through two-way video capability.
CHEMOTHERAPY
Ortonville Area Health Services offers chemotherapy services on a daily basis. Our chemotherapy suite offers a comfortable environment for the Monday-Friday program and licensed staff provide the program.
SURGERY
Ortonville Area Health Services can provide surgery in your hometown for such procedures as laparoscopic gallbladder, hernias, colon surgeries and many more. Varicose vein problems and consultations are also available for vascular problems such as aortic aneurysms and lower leg problems. Surgical procedures are provided by Rob Kruger, MD from Affiliated Medical Center in Willmar, MN.
CARDIOLOGY
Leonard Nordstrom, MD or Mark Haugland, MD are from Park Nicollet Clinic in St. Louis Park, MN and Tom Stys, MD of Sanford Cardiology are our specialists. They provide at least twice monthly outreach cardiology clinics at Ortonville Area Health Services providing care for "matters of the heart". They prescribe and set up treatments for chest pain, heart murmurs, blood pressure, angiograms and stress tests. Dr's. Nordstrom, Haugland and Stys also provide followup care for heart attack patients.
UROLOGY
The urologists providing outreach to Ortonville Area Health Services are Kevin Unger, MD from Affiliated Medical Center in Wilmar, MN and Tomas Stillwell, MD and Raymond Hackett, MD from North Urology, Robbinsdale, MN. Urologists specialize in urinary problems, bladder and prostate problems. They provide urology services and prostate surgery, cystoscopy and prostate biopsies.
PODIATRY
The podiatrists "de-feets" your foot problems. He provides treatment for those with toenail, heel and ankle problems. Steven Saccoman, MD and Alex Lebrija, MD from Morris, MN are the outreach podiatrist that offer services at OAHS. Surgery can also be done here in Ortonville to correct foot problems.
ORTHOPEDICS
Our "bone doctors". These doctors diagnoses and treats broken bones, arthroscopy procedures and total joint replacement (knee, shoulder and hips). Our outreach orthopedic specialists are: Dr. Michael Vener based at Northeast Orthopedic Center in Watertown, South Dakota and Dr. James Green based at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, MN provide the outreach visits in Ortonville.
GI
GI is short for Gastro-Intestinal disorders. Two different outreach specialists provide this service at Ortonville Area Health Services: Peter Meier, MD and Rob Kruger, MD. Dr. Meier is based at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis, MN and Dr. Kruger is based in Affiliated Medical Center, Wilmar, MN. The specialists provide colonoscopies (exam of the colon) and UGI endoscopy (exam of esophagus and stomach).
ENT
Our "heads up doc" is Dr. Kenneth Rogotzke, MD from Lake Area ENT and Allergy, Watertown, SD. He diagnoses and treats ears, nose and throat problems such as recurrent ear infections, sinus problems, hearing problems and hoarse voice. He also provides allergy consults and skin cancer identification and removal. Many of his surgeries can be performed at OAHS.
OPTHALMOLOGY
Th Ophthalmology specialty offers consultation, exams and surgical procedures for eye ailments including glaucoma, cataracts, eye infections and injuries. Our specialist is Curtis Wischmeier, MD, based in Aberdeen, SD at the Ophthalmology Associate Clinic.
ONCOLOGY
An oncologist is a cancer specialist who diagnoses and prescribes treatment such as chemotherapy and/or radiation for patients with cancer. Many chemotherapy treatments can be given right here at OAHS. Preston Steen, MD from Meritcare,Fargo, ND, provides at least monthly oncology specialty clinics at OAHS.
GYNECOLOGY
A GYN specialist provides care and treatment for women. The specialist recommends treatment and/or surgery for gynecological (female) problems. Some surgical procedures can be performed at OAHS. Dr. Benson will also consult on obstetrical patients. Kevin Benson, MD has a primary clinic located in Sioux Falls, SD.
NEPHROLOGY
With the addition of the Dialysis Center at Ortonville Area Health Services, we also have three nephrologists that provide outreach services to our patients. These nephrologists are Dr. Larry Burris and Dr. Jennifer Fillhaus from Sanford Clinic in Sioux Falls, SD and Dr. Edward Zawada from the North Central Kidney Institute in Sioux Falls, SD.
AUDIOLOGY
An audiologist makes twice monthly visits to Ortonville Hospital to provide hearing services. Gina Kontz's scope of practice includes hearing exams and ordering/testing of hearing aid devices. Physician referrals are not needed and appointments can be made through the Madison Lutheran Home Audiology department by calling 320-598-7556.
VASCULAR SERVICES
Dr. Greg Schultz, MD from Sanford Health provides vascular services one time per month at Ortonville Area Health Services.
PAIN MANAGEMENT CLINICS
Dr. Patrick Retterath from Watertown, SD Innovative Pain Clinic offers treatment for chronic pain and provides injections for back, neck and joints.
GRIEF CENTER/COUNSELING
The Grief Center provides one-on-one counseling to persons of all ages who may be experiencing grief and loss. Brenda Wiese, Grief Center Coordinator, is the counselor for this service. Appointments can be made through the Rice Hospice Grief Center, Wilmar, MN or by calling her office at 320-231-4174.
